Hi guys! I’m back again with yet another beauty trend for 2016, especially for this summer-‘non-touring’! This trend was made especially popular through models Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner, who of course are both stunning ladies. Basically, the ‘non-touring’ trend is a no makeup makeup look with an emphasis on highlighting and no contouring (hence, ‘non-touring’). It’s supposed to give you that fresh faced, glowing ‘I woke up like dis’ look, even though clearly you did not woke up like dis.
To achieve this look, it is common to use the following steps. First, you should prep the skin with a primer that compliments your skin type. Then, use a BB cream instead of foundation to create a lighter and more natural look to the skin. If you need more coverage in certain areas, try spot concealing to keep things light. You will also want to use a more dewy and luminous product and stay away from matte products, since the goal is to be fresh faced and glowing. Next, comes the highlighting. You will want to highlight the high points of your face, such as the top of the cheekbones, the brow bone, cupids bow, and nose. It is important to choose a highlighter that will look the most natural on your skin, try not to choose something far too light or dark for your skin tone. Also, try to stay away from highlighters that are too glittery or shimmery, as this will not create a very natural look. Beyond that, you will usually pair your non-touring with a very simple and natural eye and lip look.
Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t this almost, if not exactly, the same as the strobing trend that we saw last year?? I’m a little confused as to what the difference is, except giving it the ridiculous name of ‘non-touring’. Although it can be a beautiful look, to be honest, this trend just feels recycled and like a gimmiky way to just try and sell product. Not to mention the fact that I don’t think contouring will ever really go out of style, because it is so important to giving dimension to the face. Not to mention helping us to fake looking slimmer and making our faces look more flattering by adding structure. For those reasons, I do not think this trend is hot. Let me know what you think about ‘non-touring’ and if you think this trend is hot or not!
